Beginners Guide: The Most Basic Makeup Brushes

9:25 AM

Salam and hello!

Are you still a beginner in the makeup world? Don't know what type of brushes to purchase? I used to have the same problem (and still probably am) so I would like to share the basic brushes you will at least need in your stash :)

1) Powder Brush - Soft, full and rounded, this brush can be used for both compact powder and bronzer. The bristles pick up the perfect amount of colour and distribute flawlessly onto the skin. Load your brush with the powder and shake away any excess before sweeping onto the skin. As seen on photo it is used to dust the T-zone and under eye area to set the concealer from running off :D

2) Blusher Brush - Made with fine, gentle fibres the blusher brush has a rounded head which is perfect for giving a pop of colour to the apples of your cheeks. Sweep and blend along your cheekbone drawing the brush up into your hairline. If its too big you might end up with a big blob of circle on your face O.O

3) Eye Shadow Brush - Large, flat, short and brimming with bristles for excellent coverage. The soft bristles have a bevelled edge for a smooth application without ‘dragging’ the eyelid.

4) Lip Brush - Smooch! The sculpted tip of a lip brush is perfect for achieving a flawless line. The bristles are short and firm for controlled application.

5) Angled Eye Brow Brush - I have one of this which I used for gel eyeliner instead. Lol. It might work! Used to define and fill brows for a beautifully symmetrical appearance. The bristles are stiff and angled for precise control. Apply powder, liquid or cream in short strokes mimicking the hairs, fill sparse areas, shape and elongate for a perfect brow.

6) Sponge Tip Applicator Brush - Use the sponge tip to expertly smudge and blend eyeliner and eyeshadow for a totally custom look. I am not a fan of this brush thou because it's rather rough on my eyelids :x

7) Lash and Eyebrows Comb - Use the lash comb to separate and define lashes. Use the brush to groom and tame eyebrows.

And there you have it :) Once you feel that you have a hang of it, then you can start collecting more brushes :D I am now aiming to get a crease brush at least, and waiting to upgrade my blush brush :) (there will probably be a haul post soon on that! :p) and more to come! Slowly building up my collection~ hehe.

Til next time blurbers!

P/S: #prayformh370 , I hope it would be found soon. It's been 3 days now :(
