food review

Republique Restaurant, Miri

10:30 AM

Salam and hello!

Care for some Middle Eastern taste? Want to have a go for the Prince of Persia vibe? Literally.

Hahah. Recently I had dropped by a rather new food joint, which opened I think around Ramadhan month.

Republique is located around Bintang Commercial Centre, opposite Dewan Suarah Miri.We went there just a few minutes after 6PM (actually we were there earlier but they didn't open exactly at 6PM haha). Bugged mom to go since their opening day already lol. Finally went there since my brother was around during the time!
They even have shisha if requested. What's a Middle Eastern joint be without them? Haha.Was totally in love with the white, crisp-looking ambience they have going there.
Such a cute menu no? Would love to reveal all the menu in here, but where's the fun in that? Haha. After that we proceeded ordering our meals :D

A unique, mouth-watering concoction for milkshake lovers! This Persian milkshake contains milk, banana and pistachio // RM 12.90
 A homemade mix of strawberry and lemon // RM 8.90
Did not take a shot of my mom's order, the Watermelon Juice (RM 8.90) because it looked very similar to the Strawberry Lemonade ;D

Side Dish
Mashed potatoes, carrots, green peas and shredded chicken // RM 7.90
One of the best-selling side dishes there, was recommended to have this one by the owner.! No wonder, because it is so tasty >.<
Main Course
// RM 25.90
Fried chicken marinated with Republique's special blend of saffron and spices, served with saffron rice and topped with jeweled barberries; those barberries tasted weird for me hahaha. I thought it would be the same as raisins, probably not. Lol. The chicken... gosh. It's not spicy, it's sweet but still perfect for me haha. The rice portion was too large for me, too bad I couldn't finish it :( This is also another of their best seller!
//RM 35.90
A delicious shank of lamb stewed in Republique's special sauce blend; never in my life have I encountered a lamb shank cooked so perfect! It's easy to shred the meat off (pardon my English, if you get what I mean here), if I'm not mistaken it was cooked for like 7 hours? Usually I don't eat lamb because of the smell eventhough it was cooked, this one doesn't give off that kind of scent. Hoho. Mom ordered and shared with us, as you can see the portionnn.
Two juicy strips of koobideh (ground beef and lamb marinated in a blend of saffron and spices) kebab and barg (ground tenderloin, shaped into a leaf and marinated in the special blend of saffron and spices) kebab; you can actually get koobideh and barg separately, but since it's the first time we are there we ended up getting this combo instead. Also an impressive set, this was what my brother ordered. Haha.

So where to find this place?

Here is the map just in case people are curious! Hehe.

Despite the price, I am really satisfied with the portion and all! You don't get food that are worth the price as much here in Miri :) Will definitely be coming back again! Now I'm missing the Shir Moz Peste lol.
